Chambers is pleased to announce that Lucy King, Owain Rhys James, and Dominic Evans attended and spoke at the Wales Housing Law Masterclass, hosted at Cardiff University on 10 and 11 September.

Housing Law Masterclass

The event was promoted by SHLA Social Housing Law Association, the Housing Law Practitioners Association (HLPA) and the Legal Action Group.

The Masterclass series  brought together practitioners, academics, advisers, and policy specialists from across Wales to address the rapidly evolving landscape of Welsh housing law. The programme provided sector‑wide training on key areas including possession proceedings, homelessness, disrepair, tenancy fraud, supported housing, anti‑social behaviour, and the Welsh registration and licensing regime.

The Masterclasses aim to equip professionals with the practical and doctrinal tools needed to navigate these increasingly technical areas of law.

Lucy King (Possession proceedings), Owain Rhys James (ASB), and Dominic Evans (ASB) joined colleagues from across the sector to share practical insights drawn from their extensive experience in Welsh housing litigation and advisory work. Their contributions reflected Chambers’ ongoing commitment to supporting the development of housing law expertise in Wales and to engaging directly with academic–practitioner collaboration.

Future events

Chambers’ Housing law team, alongside the Administrative and Public team, will be providing a webinar on 5 November 2026 at 3-4.30pm entitled “Dealing with Anti-social Behaviour: Housing Injunctions, Respect and Closure Orders”.

The session is aimed at all those dealing with ASB, including local authorities, police forces, social landlords, housing officers, and community‑safety professionals.

The Housing law team will also be providing a webinar on 12 November 2026 at 3:30-4:30pm on Housing Condition Litigation in Wales: Disrepair and Unfitness claims, an update. That webinar will provide an update on housing disrepair litigation and fitness for human habitation.
