Louise Basden


Fees Clerk

Louise Basden handles the financial and administrative aspects for the Barristers at Civitas Chambers. Duties include accurate fee collection, invoicing/billing, and managing the Members Account. She works closely with our clients, our clerking team and Members to ensure smooth financial operations.

Louise brings 35 years of experience in customer-facing roles and prides herself on delivering excellent client service. She began her career in the legal sector in 2005 as a receptionist, later moving into a fees administration role. In 2008, she progressed to a senior position within another set of Chambers, where she remained for 15 years. Louise has also worked as a Financial Credit Controller for a regional newspaper group and for a firm of chartered accountants in the South-West.

Louise joined Civitas Chambers in October 2024 and has quickly established herself as a crucial point of contact for clients regarding payments, having updated all our fee chasing procedures which has resulted in a much smoother process for clients.
