Rebecca has experience in a broad range of personal injury matters. She receives instructions on behalf of Claimants and Defendants, often dealing with catastrophic and life changing injuries. Her work has included employer’s liability, assault and sexual assaults, occupiers’ liability, road traffic and construction site claims. She has experience in Fatal Accident Act and CICA actions.

Rebecca has experience in inquests and in particular their relation to subsequent civil proceedings.

Rebecca’s practice encompasses all areas of personal injury work. She has extensive experience in claims involving road traffic accidents, highways, employers’ liability, occupiers’ liability and food poisoning claims. She regularly acts for Claimant and Defendant predominantly at intermediate or multi-track level.

In addition to Court work Rebecca has a substantial paper-based practice. She regularly provides written advices, drafts pleadings and settles complex Schedules/ Counter Schedules.

Rebecca frequently represents Defendants in cases where fundamental dishonesty is alleged and applications under the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015 are made.

Cases

  • Acted for the Defendant bus company in relation to an RTC. There were issues regarding the Claimant’s credibility at trial. The Defendant successfully obtained a finding of fundamental dishonesty and an order for costs was made against the Claimant.
  • Represented a large chain restaurant in relation to a number of food poisoning claims arising out of the same incident.
  • Represented the Claimant in a sexual assault claim. The Claimant obtained a good settlement in her favour.
  • Acted for a Claimant who suffered a brain injury after being struck by a car. Complex medical evidence and consideration of future working capacity. Claim settled for 7 figure sum.

Rebecca has experience of dealing with inquests, in particular representing families.

Cases

  • Represented family in an inquest involving their son drowning. The Coroner made various findings which the family had been advocating for and a PFD report followed.
