Catrin is developing a broad practice spanning public and civil law, with particular experience in personal injury, clinical negligence, public law, housing, regulatory, education, and chancery matters. Her background in human rights, domestic abuse, and social policy informs her thorough preparation of cases and pragmatic approach to advocacy and client care.
Originally from Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Catrin attended Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw in Pontypool before studying Law at Aberystwyth University. She went on to complete an LLM in International Development Law and Human Rights at the University of Warwick and an MRes at the University of South Wales, where her research focused on a realist review of a domestic abuse programme for children with Additional Learning Needs.
Alongside her studies, Catrin gained international experience with Camp America, working at Camp Wawbeek in Wisconsin to support children and adults with disabilities. This experience sparked her commitment to advocacy and social justice, leading to an internship with the United Nations at the Habitat III Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development in Quito, Ecuador. Before coming to the Bar, she worked across a range of public sector organisations and was a researcher at the Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre (CASCADE) at Cardiff University, focusing on social policy and practice.
Catrin is regularly instructed on behalf of both claimants and defendants in small claims and fast-track litigation, including road traffic accidents, credit hire disputes, occupiers’ liability, and employers’ liability claims.
She has experience advising on liability, quantum, and settlement strategy, and is regularly instructed in interim applications involving disclosure, expert evidence, directions, and case management. Catrin’s attention to detail and practical approach enables her to provide clear, focused advice and effective advocacy at all stages of proceedings.
Catrin has a growing public law practice, with experience across judicial review, civil protection, police advisory work, and inquests. During pupillage, she assisted in drafting letters before action in proposed judicial review proceedings concerning the lawfulness of the Legal Aid Agency’s withdrawal of legal aid contracts and the application of the Welsh Government’s 2016 Code of Guidance for Local Authorities on the Allocation of Accommodation and Homelessness.
She is regularly instructed by the police in applications for Domestic Violence Protection Orders, Stalking Protection Orders and Sexual Risk Orders. Drawing on her academic background in domestic violence, human rights, and social policy, Catrin has a particular interest in gender-based violence and is committed to developing her expertise in civil protection work.
Catrin has advised police forces on operational matters, including police conduct and allegations of fraudulent behaviour. She is regularly instructed to carry out assessments and prepare reports on legal professional privilege and disclosure. Catrin also has experience in inquests involving deaths in custody, requiring careful analysis of sensitive evidence. Her work has included reviewing video and audio evidence, preparing detailed chronologies, and working closely with witnesses to draft statements.
During pupillage, Catrin gained exposure to a wide range of traditional and commercial chancery work, including shareholder disputes, challenges to wills, and trustee–beneficiary disputes.
Catrin is building a growing chancery practice, an area she particularly enjoys and is keen to expand. She is regularly instructed to advise on prospects, draft pleadings, and assist clients in consumer contract and property disputes. She has appeared in hearings involving insolvency matters and copyright disputes and brings a careful, analytical approach to complex legal and factual issues.

Catrin is instructed in a broad range of housing matters spanning both public and private law. She regularly appears in possession proceedings, housing disrepair claims, homelessness appeals, tenancy disputes, and matters involving alleged breaches of tenancy.
Her practice also includes cases concerning anti-social behaviour, including applications for injunctions, closure orders brought on behalf of the police, and matters involving allegations of cuckooing. She is experienced in dealing with cases that require careful consideration of the rights of occupiers alongside the protection of vulnerable individuals and the wider public interest.
Catrin is confident in drafting pleadings, including particulars of claim, defences and counterclaims, and regularly represents clients at interlocutory hearings, small claims and fast-track trials. She provides clear, practical advice and is known for her approachable manner with lay clients, enabling her to deal effectively with sensitive and often complex housing disputes.
Catrin is developing her pratcice in all areas of regulatory law with experience advising public bodies and working on matters involving governance, information law, professional standards, and decision-making processes.
During her pupillage, she shadowed Owain Rhys James in his investigation into allegations of antisemitism against students and staff at a university.
She has since advised public bodies on handing data under the General Data Protection Rules (GDPR) and Data Protection Act. Catrin has also acted as clerk to the Independent School Appeals Panel, hearing admission and exclusion appeals and gaining further experience of regulatory decision-making and statutory frameworks.
