Today’s new edition of The Legal 500, which reviews Civitas Chambers here, complete with the remarks said about individual members of chambers, provides an excellent and welcome snapshot on progress.  We are grateful to our solicitors and clients for their positive feedback.

  • Thirteen of chambers’ 19 practising counsel were identified as leading juniors.
  • Members received a total of 26 rankings across all of the 8 areas of specialisation in which we practise.
  • The ‘efficient and very approachable’ Andrea Mclean is the senior clerk and the clerking team were described as ‘very professional and responsive’, and individuals will do ‘everything in their power to ensure solicitors get continuity of counsel

Within Commercial, banking, insolvency and Chancery law, the editors identified Richard ColeDan DysonCathrine GrubbGareth Jones and Anthony Vines as leading juniors in the field stating “Civitas Chambers is ‘the best in Cardiff’ for commercial litigation, including insolvency and contractual disputes. The set is also recommended for media-related work”.

Chambers’ expertise in Personal injury and clinical negligence was recognised, particularly claims of catastrophic injuries and industrial disease, with five leading juniors: Simon Hughes, Victoria HillierNick David JonesBryan Thomas and Joanne Williams.

In Employment, whilst mention was made of the increasing volume of discrimination claims being handled in chambers, four barristers were described as leading juniors: Christopher Howells, Mona BayoumiJoanne Williams and Anthony Vines.

The editors stated “Public Law is a notable strength” of Civitas Chambers picking out as leading juniors Mona BayoumiRichard ColeCathrine Grubb and Victoria Hillier.

Within the Regulatory, health and safety and licensing category, the leading juniors identified were Matthew PaulVictoria Hillier and Anthony Vines.

Dan Dyson was also identified for Property work and Anthony Vines for Construction Planning and the Environment.
