Overview

At Civitas Chambers, our private client barristers provide expert advice and advocacy across the full range of wills, trusts and probate matters. Our members act in both contentious and non-contentious work, representing executors, trustees, beneficiaries, charities and professional advisers in disputes concerning the validity, construction and administration of wills and trusts.

We regularly appear before the County Court and High Court, as well as in mediations and settlement meetings, reflecting our commitment to resolving disputes efficiently and proportionately. A significant proportion of our private client work is handled through Alternative Dispute Resolution, where members’ experience in negotiation and mediation helps clients achieve practical outcomes without litigation.

Members of the team also practise in related Court of Protection matters, particularly those involving issues of mental capacity and the management of property and affairs.

Our wills, trusts and probate barristers combine technical expertise with sensitivity and pragmatism, recognising the personal nature of these disputes. We provide clear, strategic and cost-effective advice tailored to each client’s circumstances, whether acting for individuals, families, professionals, or institutions.

Members’ experience across chancery, property and commercial law ensures that related issues—such as business assets, property interests, or cross-border estates—are dealt with seamlessly and comprehensively.
